ILOCOS SUR FESTIVAL OF 2026

ILOCOS SUR FESTIVAL

Ilocos Sur, a province rich in history, culture, and natural beauty, comes alive each year with the annual "Kannawidan" which is always located in Vigan City. This annual celebration, whose name translates to "heritage," "tradition," or "custom" (derived from tawid, meaning inheritance). It specifically refers to a grand, week-long festival in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, celebrating Ilocano culture, arts, food, and history, usually held in late January to early February to commemorate the province's founding. It is a grand showcase of the province's heritage, traditions, and the warm hospitality of its people. The festival serves as a powerful attraction, drawing in tourists and locals alike to experience the unique charm and dynamic spirit of our Ilocos Sur. From colorful street parades to captivating cultural presentations, the Festival offers a glimpse into the heart and soul of this remarkable region.

The festival typically features a diverse array of events that cater to all ages and interests. One of the highlights is the street dancing competition, where performers in elaborate costumes move to the rhythm of traditional Ilocano music, depicting stories and aspects of their daily lives. Another significant aspect is the trade fair, where local products, from intricate handwoven textiles to delectable Ilocano delicacies like empanada and longganisa, are proudly displayed and sold.

February 12, The Annual One Ilocos Sur Night, personally, was a night to be remembered. It was a full blass of light and melody. I was with my closests friends: Aubrey, Klene, and Iyer, we arrived late at the venue so it was a crowded place but aside from that, the atmosphere was full of excited cheers and full of love birds. From starting the concert with Gov. Jerry Singson, that Evening had sounds of contemporary OPM artists like,  Fitter Karma, Arthur Nery, Yeng Constantino etc. After the show off of the artists, the venue launch a fire works show at exactly at 12:00 AM, a perfect way to end the One Ilocos Sur Night.

3rd One Down! One More to Go!

3RD ONE DOWN? ONE MORE TO GO!

___________________________________________________________________________________

In this Quarter, i've learned a lot of intriguing concepts, context, and experiences that made me who I am today. From our CBR(Community Based Research), I've learned so many things such as the: Many Literary pieces and how it contributed to the conservation of the Vigan City, also the tale of the Legend of Love & War(WW2), learned from our teacher English, Ma'am Joan, made me understand more how most of the Vigan City, mainly the Calle Crisologo was preserved so carefully. Apart from that, I've also learned more how to use my blogger more through the activities i've overcome.

Jose  Protasio  Rizal  Mercado  Y..  Alonso  Realonda (1861-1896)

Jose Rizal's greatest contribution to Philippine society was his awakening of Filipino nationalism and his advocacy for peaceful reforms. Through his writings, particularly his novels Noli Me Tángere and El filibusterismo, Rizal exposed the injustices and abuses of the Spanish colonial government and the Catholic friars. These works, though fictional, vividly depicted the suffering of the Filipino people and ignited a sense of shared identity and grievance among them. Rizal's brilliance lay in his ability to articulate the aspirations of a nation yearning for freedom and dignity, inspiring countless Filipinos to question the status quo and envision a better future for their homeland. His intellectual prowess and moral courage provided a powerful foundation for the burgeoning nationalist movement.

Christmas Season and Its Essence

       e r r y C h r i s t m a s

Christmas Season, at its core, is a  vibrant tapestry woven with threads of joy, tradition, reflection and the overall preparation of the birth date of our Lord Savior, Jesus Christ. It's a period where people around  the world come in union to embrace a spirit of generosity and togetherness. While commercial aspects have grown, the essence of Christmas remains rooted in ancient customs and the profound story of hope and renewal. Families gather, homes are adorned with twinkling lights and evergreen boughs, and the aroma of festive baking fills the air, creating a sensory experience unique to this special time of year.

Reflection of the Second Quarter

a.   The primary discovery this quarter centered on the criticality of contextual parsing within complex instructions. I have gained a deeper understanding of how to use tags properly, such as the font face, font color, font size, the implementation of images, applying background images and also how to apply background color.

b.   The most recurrent challenge stems from navigating the tension between complexity and constraints. Our teacher frequently requests complex, multi-commands and of course the strict deadlines.

c.    I addressed these challenges by further understanding the complex concepts to overcome. But, i mostly focused on managing my time right; pushing aside distractions and only focusing on what is needed to be done first.

d.   Moving on, I will continue strive harder to overcome these challenges by the same method i used, which is to manage and focus only what is needed be done. Moreover, i wish to learn more about interesting concepts to challenge myself and learn more about me.
